Persuasive Essays Do You Have What It Takes To Persuade?

Agree, Disagree and Neutral, these are the three options that people use in various situations regarding philosophy, math, science, theories, politics, and in Life; but it just doesn’t end here. In this world people don’t tend to leave people with their own singular ideals, they tend to make them join them because ‘The Bigger the Crowd, The Louder the Voice’

So what are Persuasive Essays? This is a type of an essay where a writer writes about his/her opinion and persuades the reader to agree with aforementioned idea/opinion. This type of essay is included in the Academic Essays and another name for this format is also known as the Argument Essay.

Persuasive Essays can be considered an essay where a person writes down his/her opinion and tries to make the reader accept that his idea is agreeable, but they can’t just be written blatantly, this essay format requires logic, facts, figures, authentic resources and if possible, by quoting works from experts. The biggest example that can be given was during Cold War between 1947-1990 where a huge debate was running around the globe that whether Communism is better or Democracy.

There is also another thing that must be kept in mind about Persuasive Essays; it’s not a comparison between two subjects, rather it’s just one subject and the writer is defining its major points; and telling the audience that what action should be executed.

An example can be given like this:

1) Why you shouldn’t watch too much TV?

2) Why is Junk Food bad for health?

3) Why violent video games be banned?

4) Why Indian Dramas should be banned in Pakistan?

5) Are school uniforms necessary?

From the above the examples what we mostly get is ‘Why Should’ not simply ‘Why’ ‘What’, ‘How’, Where’ and ‘When’.

An Essay like ‘Why reading attitude is decreasing’ is not a Persuasive Essay, it is considered a descriptive essay because it contains the points of it decrement, but is not giving an opinion of the writer and is also not persuading the reader to actually do what about the reading problem. The most vital point of the Persuasive essay is actually providing a solution.

For the Persuasive essays to be written, the writer must know the audience and confirm that how the audience feels towards the particular subject i.e. favorable or hostility. Also the topic must have some strong points to support you persuasion and it should be written in a style that can grab and hold the audience’s attention.

As already mentioned above, Persuasive Essay is included in the Academic Essay Writing format, it can be written at all levels of academic knowledge, starting from 4th grade class to university level. The point of this essay writing is to teach them on how to persuade the person to either agree or disagree with your opinion backed with tangible facts and figures.
